Curry on Dancing
at Soho Wala
Garden
Extraordinaire
Soho Wala launched in November 2018 and quickly established itself
as a prime spot for top-class Indian street food. The 昀氀avours here are
e昀昀usively representative of street delights found on the streets of the
subcontinent and the central London location within the luxurious
Courthouse Hotel is a welcome invitation for Londoners to explore this
early pioneer. Housed in a Grade II building, a beautiful eating hall
greets patrons on Great Malborough Street directly opposite the famous
Carnaby Street and right around the corner from Oxford Street station.
Head Chef Rajesh Parmar keeps its simple, bold and authentic with
stalwarts such as Mirchi Matchstick, a lovely version of spicy chicken
and Pani Puri, 昀氀avour bombs that have been bewitching palettes on the
streets of Bombay for eon. Most excitingly there is the India afternoon
tea experience complete with Chai, Coriander & mint chutney in brioche
buns and Tandoori chicken morsels whilst Momos originally from
Sino-Indian border states and Nepal give a taste of the ever-popular Indo-Chinese fusion cuisine. There’s also Maru Na Bhajia - Marwari pakodas and fritters from the Northwestern state of Rajasthan and Byadgi
Murg – chicken tikka with the eponymous dried chillies. So de昀椀nitely
loads of smallplates to share and starters and street fare but also mains
like Lall Maas and Goan Fish Curry to have a proper curry experience.
Group dining is available and every occasion can be catered for.
Most excitingly, bang on cue for the longer evenings and gorgeous Summer nights, Soho Wala is launching Bollywood Beat Nights; a vibrant
new weekly celebration of Indian street food, sumptuous cocktails, and
summer-worthy DJ sets. Looking to electrify Soho every Thursday,
Friday, and Saturday from 7PM, Bollywood Beat Nights will be a celebration of Indian-inspired cocktails bursting with bold spices and exotic
昀氀avours including the Masala Chai Martini and Soho Wala Sa昀昀ron Sunset, while feasting on aforesaid beauties from the a la carte menu. The
atmosphere will be curated by DJ Dhruv, whose sets mix Bollywood,
Bhangra, Pop, R&B, Garage, and Basement for the perfect soundtrack to
kickstart the weekend.
We are o昀케cially into Summer now and that means it’s time to remind
Kensington and Chelsea Review readers to make their way to Home
House Garden, with a club member or become one to experience an
annual ritual I very much look forward to much like the Halloween
party later in the year . It is the ultimate destination for lunch, dinner,
or drinks once within London’s most iconic members club. Magically
tucked behind the club’s Georgian façades in the heart of Marylebone
this blissfully stylish and majestically elegant haven is a prime spot for
joyous get-togethers, business meetings, leisurely lunches and evening
drinks all whilst savouring the magni昀椀cence of Home House’s pedigreed
food and drink o昀昀erings.
So if you’re in Soho and looking for a an authentic Indian experience
in a grand building right it the heart of London, head to Soho Wala. If
it’s Indian street food that tickles your fancy or the urge to let your hair
down and enjoy some fantastic music and bites, ditto. All roads lead to
Soho Wala so as to say.
The new Summer Garden BBQ menu is led by vibrant seasonal 昀氀avours
and relaxed luxury. Fresh highlights include Sicilian red prawns with
tarragon butter, barbecue Dover sole with cucumber and lemon,
heritage tomato panzanella, and grilled vegetables marinated in Italian
herbs. The BBQ menu is available from Friday to Sunday every week,
giving members the perfect excuse to enjoy long lunches and laid back
evenings outdoors. The seafood platter, featuring oysters, tiger prawns
and dressed crab, is ideal for sharing, while new 昀氀atbreads, fresh salads
and garden sides o昀昀er plenty of choice for every appetite. From the
grill, members can enjoy cuts such as the grass fed onglet steak with
chimichurri, or opt for lighter plates including tuna tartare with potato
galette, oyster mushroom skewers, or Wye Valley asparagus with agretti.
To accompany the food is an updated cocktail list with a focus on
summer freshness. Signature drinks include the clari昀椀ed colada with
coconut and pineapple, the cantaloco with melon and tequila, and the
Riviera Breeze, a crisp citrus and basil served with cucumber tonic. A
dedicated Summer Spritz menu features refreshing combinations such
as the Italicus Spritz with guava and lime, the Lillet Rosé Spritz, and the
house favourite Per Se Spritz.
To reiterate, the 昀椀rst visit to the Home House garden always seems to
be that point which 昀椀rmly signals the start of summer. So whether
it’s a slightly balmy day or a full-blown scorcher, head to HHG and get
charged-up for the lovely times that lie ahead in Summer 2025.
