Garagisti & Co. GP1:
The Return of the Analogue Hypercar
While most of today’s hypercars embrace hybrid powertrains and digital interfaces, the new Garagisti & Co. GP1 goes in the opposite direction — reviving the soul of the analogue supercar with unapologetic focus on mechanical purity. Lisa Curtiss takes a look at this most eye catching of models.
This all-new British creation is built around a carbon monocoque chassis and powered by a bespoke 6.6-litre naturally aspirated V12 developed with
Italian motorsport specialists Italtecnica Srl (www.italtecnicaengineering.com). Producing 800 hp at 9,000 rpm and more than 700 Nm of torque,
it’s paired with a six-speed manual gearbox by Xtrac for the kind of tactile, immersive driving experience many thought extinct.
Penned by Angel Guerra — whose résumé includes Bugatti and Rimac — the GP1’s design blends cues from the icons of the 1980s, ’90s and early
2000s with modern aerodynamics. Its dramatic upper surfaces hint at legends such as the Lancia Stratos Zero and Lamborghini Countach, while
beneath, vast rear di昀昀users deliver true ground-e昀昀ect performance.
Inside, the cabin follows a philosophy of simplicity and focus. The twin-cockpit layout is free from oversized screens and gimmicks, with every control precisely placed for instinctive use. Ventilation is seamlessly integrated, maintaining a sculptural, clutter-free environment.
Weighing just 1,000 kg dry, the GP1 o昀昀ers blistering performance yet retains the comfort and luggage space for grand touring. The chassis has been
tuned for both road re昀椀nement and track precision, giving the car a dual personality — civilised GT or raw, visceral beast at the turn of the driver’s
will.
Garagisti & Co. takes its name from the independent privateer teams that shook up Formula 1 in the 1950s and ’60s, and has assembled a coalition
of elite partners: DEXET Technologies (www.dexet.tech) for chassis and aerodynamics, Brembo and Öhlins for competition-grade components, and
more. Without a legacy to protect or shareholders to appease, the team has been free to focus solely on the joy of driving.
Just 25 examples will be produced, each hand-昀椀nished to its commissioner’s speci昀椀cation. The 昀椀rst 12 clients will gain access to the “Open Doors”
programme — private events across the UK and Europe, and the rare opportunity to in昀氀uence and witness their car’s creation.
At £2.45 million plus taxes, the GP1 is more than a hypercar — it’s a statement that the analogue age isn’t over.
